Symposium Bias and AI
Uncovering the underlying mechanisms behind (gender) bias & how we can circumvent it
Program
In honour of International Women’s Day (theme: Women of the future), this afternoon is dedicated to learning about (gender) biases in AI. We will see what biases look like on our screens using AI tools like Chat GPT. Camilla Damian (VU University) will give a lecture about gender bias in Natural Language Processing.
Two researchers from CWI, Mae Sosto and Andrei Nesterov will pitch their research on assess gender (non-conforming) biases and machine-readable stereotypes, with which we can see research happening at one of our own institutes on this theme. We will end with a lively discussion on topics as the impact of AI on society and how we can circumvent biases. With drinks and bites at the end we will have the opportunity to discuss further in a more informal way and meet each other.
